I’m really glad Sweat365 takes the first step in getting blogs started for new members. It’s usually the hardest part of starting a new blog. I know it is for me. But all the main information is there. I am a 23 year old male and I do live in TN. I’ve been classified by friends and family as “a little guy”, standing only 5′ 6″ and weighing only about 145 lbs. Soccer has always been my main source of exercise and competition. I played all through high school and now play for a team in my local adult soccer league. I still love the sport but am looking for new ways to improve my overall fitness and endurance.

It’s no secret that soccer is, without a doubt, an endurance sport. Ninety plus minutes of nothing but running and sprinting, kicking and heading. I started looking for ways to improve my endurance for soccer and happened to find good information on triathlons. I’ve heard a lot about it before but never took the time to research the sport. After doing so I think I might have stumbled across something that I could enjoy putting a lot of effort into.

That being said, I’m now trying to find the right training program to get me started on this long journey on my road to the Ironman Competitions. I still have much to learn about the sport and I know that starting anything new just takes doing it to really learn about it. I just want to be prepared in order to prevent serious injury. I’ve been lucky to only pick up a few minor knocks during my soccer career. The only serious one I’ve endured is a nagging ankle injury. It’s not serious but I keep it taped for games to prevent re-injury.

With soccer I know all the right things to look for in the perfect equipment to buy. As far as triathlons are concerned I’m utterly lost. I have a good pair of running shoes and love to run. I’m currently in the market for a good bike and want one that is not too pricey but can still use competitively in triathlons. I’ve noticed that a lot of triathletes wear wetsuits for the swim and wonder which is right for me. My plan is to start training right away and hopefully complete my first tri in either August or September. The Music City Tri in Nashville is my first goal.

If any of you veteran triathletes come across my blog here feel free to give whatever advice or encouragement you can. Any will be greatly appreciated. Once I come up with a steady routine or training program I will report my progress.

See you at the Finish line!
